My names Katie and I'm the face behind Flying Solo Mum.
I always knew I wanted to be a Mum I just didn't know how it would happen. For a good few years I started to look at the potential of adoption and in 2022 I finally took the plunge and began my Solo adoption Journey. I started this Blog to help others in a similar position understand what it really involves, the high's, the low's and everything in-between.

My Story
I have wanted children for as long as I can remember and never doubted I would some day have some. Adoption was not the first avenue I thought of when in my 20s I thought about having children but my career was my focus (Paediatric Nurse), that and travelling as much as possible and I assumed it would just happen. Fast forward to hitting the big 40 and realising I need to make this happen. By this point Adoption had been something I had been considering for a while but running my own businesses (Care Agency and Travel Consultant, more about that later) I just didn't feel I was ready. That of course is now totally bonkers and are you really ever ready for this life changing event. I think Covid brought it home as well as hitting my 40's and I finally took the leap.
As I started the process and was doing research and learning all I could about the process I found very little written by other solo adopters. As the process progressed I felt like I needed to document my journey for others. Initially it started with an Instagram page but I felt I needed to do more and so Flying Solo Mum, the Blog developed in my mind.
I am now a proud Mumma of a beautiful little girl and I look forward to sharing out Journey with you and hopefully all our future adventures!
